Some collaborations just make sense. And when Meadow Mushrooms teamed up with the Bacon Bros Group, the result was always going to be something seriously delicious.
Together, we created the Shroom Smash Burger, bringing the rich, savoury flavour of mushrooms to the smash burger scene in a big way. Available across all Bacon Bros Group locations, The Shroom Smash was a celebration of great ingredients, big flavour and the kind of burger that deserves both hands.
Meet the Shroom Smash This wasn’t just any smash burger.
The Shroom Smash brought together a juicy smashed beef patty, melted cheese, crispy bacon, pickled mushrooms and a mushroom ketchup, all packed into one seriously satisfying burger.
The mushroom ketchup added a rich, savoury hit, while the pickled mushrooms brought a delicious tang that cut through the richness of the beef, cheese and bacon.
Every bite brought something different. Sweet, savoury, smoky, tangy and seriously moreish.
And right at the heart of it all? Mushrooms.
Mushrooms meet smash burger culture At Meadow, we love showing people just how versatile mushrooms can be. They’re not just a side dish. They’re a flavour powerhouse that can bring something special to all kinds of meals.
The Shroom Smash was a perfect example.
By pairing mushrooms with the bold flavours of a classic smash burger, we created something that felt familiar, but with a delicious Meadow twist.
It was indulgent, satisfying and made for anyone who believes a great burger should never be boring.
A collaboration across the Bacon Bros Group
The collaboration brought Meadow Mushrooms together with the Bacon Bros Group, a Christchurch-born food group with a passion for burgers, beers and great hospitality.
The Shroom Smash was made available across all four of their locations:
- Bacon Bros
- Beers
- Shaka Bros
- North Beach Beer Garden
That meant mushroom lovers across the group’s venues could get their hands on the Shroom Smash and experience the collaboration for themselves.
A burger worth smashing
The Shroom Smash was all about bringing people together over food that delivered on flavour.
For Meadow Mushrooms, it was another opportunity to put mushrooms centre stage and show just how much they can bring to a dish.
For the Bacon Bros Group, it was a chance to take their smash burger offering in a new direction with a little help from our favourite ingredient. The result? A burger packed with flavour, a collaboration we were proud of, and another reminder that mushrooms really are nature’s think tank.
